Touch Football

16/09/2014

The Girls Interschool Touch Football Competition was held at the Rockhampton Touch Association fields during term 3.

North Rockhampton High fielded two teams, one in each the senior and junior competition. We were very inexperienced compared to many of the other teams in the competition with this being the first time many of our students had played touch football.

Both teams did extremely well; they showed great sportsmanship and their skill level improved quickly. This experience will do the junior team well as they are all grade 8 and 9 girls so they will have another year in the 15yrs division and can hopefully do even better next year.

The senior team was a good mix of grade 10, 11 and 12 girls. They finished 5th overall out of 13 teams, which was better than expected at the beginning of the competition. The girls worked well as a team and put into practice all the things they learned at training which was pleasing to see.

Rianne Goodwin was named Most Valuable Player for the junior team and Taylor Drew received the Coach’s Award. For the seniors, Most Valuable was Amy Douglas and the Coach’s Award went to Chelsea Yarham.
