Housing and Public Works Forum

Year 11 and Year 12 students from North Rockhampton High and four students from Emmaus College attended a workshop with State Minister for Housing and Public Works, Mick de Brenni and Brittany Lauga, State Member for Keppel, on Wednesday 22 June.

The students formed groups and discussed better housing and sustainable communities. They also came up with some really fabulous ideas which will help shape the Queensland Housing Strategy.

The topic of housing is not just about homelessness, social housing and other support services. Housing is about how people participate in their community and contribute to the economy, raise and care for family, and meets their other needs.

The Minister was looking for a variety of perspectives from our younger generation so that government can have a balanced, informed view on the issues.

Thank you to North Rocky High students for participating and responding so well in the workshop.
