Blind date with a book

Our school library came up with a ‘novel’ idea to ‘pick-up’ a “Blind Date with A Book”.

In week 5 of Term 1 we carefully chose 50 books from a variety of genres.  Each ‘blind date’ book was carefully wrapped in newspaper, lovingly covered in red hearts and affectionately tied with string.

The books were placed on a lucky-dip table where students and staff selected a book at random.

This was a stimulating chance for everyone to be exposed to new genres and try new authors.

While some students were hesitant, most readers were drawn in by the affectionately wrapped books and quickly embraced the opportunity to explore a mystery book.

After reading their book, the reader was asked to do a review and rate their “date” out of 10.

The 50 chosen books were loaned out within two days and so many disappointed patrons left wanting.  We intend to hold this book affair again this term.

“Blind date with A Book” proved to be very successful and an excellent promotional tool for our library.
