Black Diggers production

Staff and Students of North Rocky High were given the opportunity to watch the live simulcast of Black Diggers with free tickets provided by AIME and Westfarmers. The play was broadcast from QPAC to the Pilbeam Theatre and the theatre was packed. The play honours the Aboriginal men who stood up to serve and protect Australia.

Black Diggers successfully addresses sensitive issues with humour and brought many of us to tears. Drama teacher Gailyn McCaul organised workshops, for our students, with two members of the Queensland Theatre Company, Heidi Irvine and Resident Director Jason Klarwein who are also involved in this production held two workshops.

The first for all drama students and the second workshop for Indigenous students. The workshops were very successful and we look forward to working with the Queensland Theatre Company again.
