Sport at NRSHS
North Rockhampton State High School has a proud and varied sporting history. At the school we are able to instruct students in many sports including: Archery Badminton, Baseball, Basketball, Dance, Hockey, Indoor Soccer, Netball, Rugby League, Softball, Volleyball, Table Tennis, Touch Football, Volleyball.
Our school has also established string links with a number of sporting organisations in the local community and therefore we are able to provide students with other activities such as Aquatics, Lawn Bowls, Tennis and Rock Climbing. Staff frequently undertake professional development courses to update and maintain their currencies in these sports.
A recent introduction to the school’s curriculum has been the STEP (Sporting Talent Extension Program) concept. This program aims to provide students with opportunities to reach their full sporting potential while at the same time meeting the demands of their school commitments. It is hoped that through the introduction of this program we will be able to continue producing such sporting talent as Jamie Dwyer and Mark Knowles (Australian Hockey Team members), John Doyle, Matt Sing, Wade and Allan Rothery, Sid Domic (NRL players).
