MATHEMATICS FACULTY
Mathematics is a core subject at North Rockhampton High School and as such must be studied from Years 8 – 12. The purpose of mathematics education in these years is to provide all students with the mathematics required for numeracy and to provide an introduction to specialist mathematics for those students likely to go into professions where it may be required.
In order to achieve this, all students in their first five semesters of study, have the opportunity to be exposed to the mathematical concepts as required by the syllabus. Semester 6 allows students to broaden their studies to be well prepared for the strand of mathematics they choose in the senior school. This material is deigned for the pathways that students choose whether it be the Authority subjects, Mathematics A, Mathematics B and Mathematics C or the SAS subjects, Pre-vocational mathematics and Consumer Mathematics.
