HOME ECONOMICS
Promoting the well-being of individuals and families in the contexts of food, textiles and living environments is one of the aims of the Home Economics department.
The Home Economics faculty offers students from years 8 – 12 the opportunity to study subjects such as Food, People and Technology, Textiles, Early Childhood Studies, Hospitality Practices and Home Economics. Students in Year 8 will experience an introductory unit of Home Economics which includes both practical areas (sewing and cooking). They may then elect whether they continue studying this subject. Students in the Senior school have the choice of three subjects: Home Economics, Hospitality Practices or Early Childhood Studies.
Home Economics staff undertake many professional development activities in order to maintain currency and relevance of subject matter.
